Merging the Outdoors with Kitchen Design: Creating the Luxury Outdoor Kitchen Oasis
Tuesday, June 16, 2020 @ 4:00pm – 5:30pm
Combining outdoor with both indoor and outdoor spaces is a key request from homeowners in today’s building market.
- As revealed in a recent survey of architects, rooms that have seen particularly strong growth in popularity over the past year include outdoor living areas and rooms.
- Almost 63 percent of residential architects surveyed report that interest in outdoor living areas/rooms are increasing, while fewer than 2 percent report interest to be declining.
- The increased enthusiasm in outdoor living has pushed this special function room to the top of the most popular list.
- Architects and designers are being asked to specify outdoor spaces, in particular kitchen spaces, that are not only functional but aesthetically pleasing.
- With the renewed energy surrounding biophilic design concepts, architects and designers must understand best practices for outdoor kitchen design, as well as appliance considerations that are available.
Overall, the form and function of the outdoor kitchen space must be well thought out and designed in a way that promotes safety and wellness for the homeowners who enjoy it. (.1 CEU)

Presenting and Selling Your Design: Build Value and Make Sales
Tuesday, April 16, 2019 @ 5:00pm – 8:30pm
Seasons Grill & Sports Lounge
427 Main Street
Bangor, ME 04401
National Speaker Duane Becker presents: It has been determined through surveys that the majority of kitchen designers wish they made a larger income for the work they do. Much of this is due to the fact that many designers have a lack of sales skills and often do not take part in self-improvement to gain these skills. It is rare that kitchen and bath designers acquire skills in design as well as sales in fact most have no specific sales training at all. My training is specifically designed to merge selling techniques with design presentations to give designers tools they can use immediately to improve their sales, communicate better with clients, and sell more of their work.
Our Sponsor for this event is Bangor Wholesale Laminates.

Paula Kennedy, CMKBD (Kirkland, WA – Puget Sound Chapter) –
As an Interior Designer of 18 years, and a Creative all my life in one form or another, Timeless Kitchen Design is a second career post Corporate America that provided an outlet for my desire for creativity. I fell in love with Kitchen and Bath as it offered my left brain the joy of digging into the technical details and my right brain the ability to play with space and color.
I am a Certified Master Kitchen & Bath Designer through NKBA, received my CAPS, Certified Aging in Place Specialist, through NAHB, and a recent addition as a Certified Architectural Color Consultant. I have been honored in the last 18 years to be an award winner, published locally and nationally, and now giving back by speaking, teaching, mentoring and writing!
Recently reinventing myself creatively, I have embraced my inner Guru and started teaching and writing about innovation and creativity. This new expression has exploded my career diversity in a way I never imagined. My desire is to continue sharing my journey and what I’ve learned along the way, if it helps one person not feel alone, if it inspires one person to grow and have the courage to try something new, then it was all worth it! Creating a better quality of life for all my clients is at the heart of my business mission statement. This drives my passion for timeless design that functions smoothly, resonates emotionally and makes us smile visually! A favorite quote by a client and now a friend; “I know many people who “love” their job, but Paula’s joy of what she does is positively infectious.”
I am taking that infectious passion into inspiring my clients, my peers and other Creatives to move beyond their comfort zones to having a space and life that is more fulfilling.
