The National Kitchen & Bath Association would like to thank K+BB for its support in sponsoring the 2009 NKBA/K+BB Student Essay Contest. The 2009 winners were asked to write on the topic "In the year 2020, what innovations and design trends will your clients want?"
The winning essay by Lacey Janelle Madsen, a student at Brigham Young University - Idaho, discussed how by 2020 the traditional family unit will again become the heart of the home where peace and tranquility can be found after the hustle and bustle of a busy day. For her essay, Lacey received a $1,500 scholarship from Nielsen Business Media, the parent company to K+BB magazine.
The second place $1,000 scholarship winner Angela Miller, a student at Brigham Young University - Idaho, focused on high-tech, green, accessible, intelligent kitchens that can cook, recommend recipes, and even remind the homeowner to order milk.
The $500 scholarship winner Susanne Walizer of American River College chose her theme as efficiency in the kitchen and bath, where clients will be looking to include more ecologically friendly products and finishes, and to incorporate energy efficient appliances and lighting by using environmentally products.
All of the winners earned trips to Atlanta to receive their award live on K+BB TV. The complete essays were also featured in May's issue of K+BB Magazine. The NKBA is thrilled to announce that K+BB will sponsor the essay contest in 2010 exclusively for NKBA Supported and Accredited Program students.
