About the Winning Design: Pamela’s winning design with sophisticated style featured a large island that could accommodate six wrapped in zebrawood. In addition to following the NKBA Planning Guideline #6 for work aisles, spacing her island 48” from the adjacent counter frontage, which made certain that her design aisles were spacious enough for Bill and Megan to cook simultaneously, she followed Guideline #17. She stated that “the most important NKBA Planning Guideline for me to adhere to in this project was Guideline #17: Cooking Surface Landing Area. I needed to make sure there was enough space on either side of the island cooktop as well as behind it. The distance required behind the cooktop was very important because of the seating."
