2008 NKBA/K+BB Student Essay Contest
Essay Topic
What K&B issue do you feel passionate about and how will YOU make a difference?
(Ex: green design, universal design, beauty on any budget, etc.)
Awards
First Prize - $1500
Second Prize - $1000
Third Prize - $500
Prize winners receive an expense paid trip (airfare, 2 nights hotel, meal allowance of $100,
and K/BIS Show & Conference registration fees) to the 2008 K/BIS held in McCormick Place,
Chicago, Ill., April 11th – 13th. Winners will be honored at an event during the 2008 K/BIS.
Who Can Enter
- Applicants must be registered as a NKBA Student Member attending as a full or part time student at an NKBA Supported or Endorsed Program (essays from graduating students will be accepted if the postmark is prior to graduation and received before the deadline)
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 for prior term to submission
- The submitting student must be the sole author and the essay may not have been created or written, in whole or in part, for a school assignment
Submission Procedures
Essays must be typed, double-spaced
and may not exceed 1000 words or 4
pages (whichever is less)
Submit 4 copies of the essay plus a
signed cover sheet with the following:
- Name of student submitting essay
- Address
- Telephone home and cell
- Email, fax
- Name of Supported/Endorsed Program
- Cumulative GPA
- Signature of Student and Dated
Statement indicating that: the essay is
solely the work of the submitter, that the
submitter waives any future rights to the
essay (copyright to K+BB & the NKBA),
that the essay was written exclusively for
the competition and has not been created
or written in whole or in part, for a
school assignment.
Participants must submit the essay to
NKBA (see mailing instructions below)
to be postmarked by February 1, 2008.
Rules and Regulations
Mail completed essay entries to NKBA/K+BB 2008 Essay Contest, 687 Willow
Grove Street, Hackettstown, N.J., 07840. Entries must be postmarked by
February 1, 2008. The NKBA or K+BB are not responsible for illegible, lost, late,
damaged, incomplete, stolen, postage-due, or misdirected mail or entries.
The essay becomes the property of K+BB and the NKBA and may not be published
or submitted elsewhere without the express written approval of the competition
hosts. At the same time, K+BB and the NKBA will be entitled to reprint the
essay, in whole or in part, in any publication without further permission.
