Finalists Announced in the Lighting for Life Design Challenge

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ and CHATSWORTH, Ca. (April 3, 2008) – LAMPS PLUS Professionals, the online trade pricing program of lighting and home décor retailer LAMPS PLUS, has announced the finalists in its Lighting for Life Design Challenge. Sponsored through the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), the Lighting for Life Design Challenge recognizes those students who developed the best tips for solving design problems using LAMPS PLUS products in kitchens, baths, or ancillary areas.

The finalists are Theresa Croyle from Century College in Minnesota, Lacey Madsen from Brigham Young University-Idaho, and Briana Bjerke from Alexandria Technical College in Minnesota.

LAMPS PLUS Professionals, in association with the NKBA, distributed packets in January to each of the NKBA-accredited schools with the details of the Lighting for Life Design Challenge. Educators at each of the schools guided students in formalizing their concepts. Students were asked to submit a description of the design problem in less than 750 words along with at least one JPEG image of an interpretative drawing that describes the solution. The student entries were submitted to the NKBA with a March 1st deadline. The finalists were then chosen by representatives from both LAMPS PLUS Professionals and the NKBA.

“We’re very excited to be associated with this program, and we were very impressed by all of the students’ submissions.” noted Angela Hsu, Vice President of Internet Marketing at LampsPlus.com. “It’s a wonderful way for us to reach out to future designers and help inspire their work.”

Sherylin Doyle, Manager of Academic Relations for the NKBA, added, “I’m proud to see the efforts made by all of the participants to produce beautiful renderings and original ideas.”

The final winner will be presented with an award from LAMPS PLUS Professionals and a $1500 scholarship at the NKBA Kitchen/Bath Industry Show & Conference (K/BIS®) in Chicago on April 10, 2008. The finalists will all receive a $500 scholarship, in addition to a $1000 travel stipend to attend K/BIS. Each finalist’s school also receives a $1000 travel stipend so an accompanying school representative can attend K/BIS.
