Convenience Learning

Busy schedules do not always allow the investment, expense, and time to travel. Luckily, that does not mean you have to compromise your education or knowledge bank.

Convenience learning means convenience, at your finger-tips, live or pre-recorded, but not in a classroom setting. This type of learning brings the user snippets of information at small time increments, enabling the user to digest information in data chunks. NKBA convenience learning programs qualify for CEU credits and some of them also qualify for NKBA hours.

The learning below is taken at no scheduled time, meaning learn at YOUR convenience:

The learning below has both components:

Webinars

Webinars are one-hour sessions led by experienced instructors and industry leaders that cover a wide variety of subjects. The one-hour webinar is a convenient and quick way to address current information and bring topical education to our members and allied students.

Meets at a scheduled time.

Web-Based Series

Web-based series are webinars that have more depth than a one-hour webinar. The instructor and students must meet more regularly to learn and grasp the information that is being taught. Just like webinars, this option provides the learner with convenient, cost-effective ways to attend a course without leaving his or her home or office.

Web-based series can be 60, 75, or 90 minutes per session and these sessions meet about two times per week. Some web series are completed in one week, some in four weeks, and other web-based series take more weeks to complete.

Meets at a scheduled time.

On-Demand E-Learning

On-Demand E-Learning is another tool. This educational course is taken via the computer whenever it is convenient for you to learn. It has revolutionized the way we learn. If you’re an early-bird or a night-owl, this learning will work best for you.

Remember that On-Demand E-Learning works best at conveying knowledge while making the understanding of the content easier because the program is developed to meet many methods of learning: audio, visual, demonstrations, repetition, follow-up, quizzes, and more.

On-Demand E-Learning is self-paced, non-restrictive, and allows the learner to absorb the course material his or her own way. NKBA Professional Development has five On-Demand E-Learning courses to choose from:

We suggest that you take a brief snippet of the On-Demand E-Learning course prior to registering. To view, click here.

On-Line Courses

On-line means that the student logs in to a course via the computer, get directions for the course via the computer, studies offsite, and at times may have to meet the instructor and other students on-line during an agreed upon time.

On-line courses offered through the NKBA are continuing education non-credit college courses that the student also takes from their home or office. Each course has its own set of syllabus and learning objectives, but all are set up to be on-line. In partnership with Century College, the NKBA Professional Development sponsors nine on-line courses that:

  • Prepare you for entry level and advanced careers in the kitchen and bath industry
  • Help you gain or upgrade your professional skills
  • Prepare you for NKBA certification
  • Develop your presentation and selling skills to better serve your clients

To register for on-line convenience learning, please call NKBA Customer Service at (800) THE-NKBA.

All courses have registration start dates and limited enrollment, so please register in advance!

Most of the work is done at the student’s pace meeting the professor’s deadlines.

Some portion of some courses meet at a scheduled time.

Thomas Edison State College

The NKBA and Thomas Edison State College of New Jersey have entered into a partnership that enables NKBA certified members to earn college credits. NKBA Certified Kitchen and Bath Designers and Educators set the standard for the industry. In recognition of that, individuals who have earned their AKBD, CKD, CBD, CKE, CBE, or CMKBD certifications are now eligible to receive up to 54 credits toward either an associate’s or bachelor of science degree in Kitchen & Bath Design from Thomas Edison State College.

Established in 1972, Thomas Edison State College is one of New Jersey’s 12 senior public institutions of higher education and one of the oldest schools in the country designed specifically for adults. The College provides flexible, high-quality, collegiate learning opportunities for self-directed adults and offers degree and certificate programs in more than 100 areas of study.

As a further benefit to all NKBA members, the NKBA has arranged for its members to pay tuition comparable with the rate that New Jersey residents are charged to attend this state college. This rate is applicable to any course in any degree program.

Thomas Edison State College is a regionally accredited college. It’s also a distance learning institution, so members can take any classes required on-line.
