Study Groups
Each NKBA chapter has a Vice President of Professional Development. One of the responsibilities of this officer is to organize and conduct study groups for the CKD/CBD examinations. These study groups have proven to be beneficial in keeping candidates motivated to prepare for the exam and improve the pass rate of examinees. Study group formats vary from three (3) to ten (10) months because they are conducted individually by each NKBA chapter. To find out if your chapter is or will be conducting a CKD or CBD Study Group, contact your local chapter's Vice President of Professional Development. Practice Exam
The NKBA's testing service, CASTLE Worldwide, Inc. offers an online, 50-question AKBD practice exam. This cost of the practice exam is $50 and must be paid directly to CASTLE Worldwide, Inc. Preparatory Courses
The NKBA offers certification prep courses for aspiring AKBDs, CKDs and CBDs. Recommended for individuals preparing for the certification exams, these courses offer participants a time-effective way to review the competencies and skills required of a certified designer, including the NKBA Graphic and Presentation Standards and Kitchen & Bath Planning Guidelines. Study Group Forum
The benefits of group study are widely documented. When done effectively, group study improves students intellectually; it stimulates interest and increases confidence, promotes group dynamics, and reinforces your mastery of the information and concepts.
What if your group is “stuck” on an issue? What if you can’t get connected to a study group in your local chapter?
The NKBA has created a Study Group Forum for exam candidates, study groups, and study group leaders to post information, ask questions, and interact with other members studying for the NKBA certification exams. In essence, you can create your own “virtual” study group by using this tool.
Benefits include the ability to read and post comments quickly wherever you are, refer to points made in other discussions, and acknowledge thoughtful ideas. You can even save a thread of a discussion to use as a study tool. Discussion forums also provide an outlet for sharing ideas to spark discussion.
