The National Kitchen and Bath Association, Ferguson Kitchen and Bath, and BSH Home Appliances presents:

Communication BLING! (2 CEUs) presented by special guest: Maria Stapperfenne, CMKBD

Plus an additional IDCEC-approved CEU, Steam Cooking in the American Kitchen presented by Janne Mahan of BSH Thermador for a total of 3 CEUs in one night.

  • 4:00 - 4:30: Check-in/networking
  • 4:30 - 5:30: Steam Cooking in the American Kitchen 1 CEU (IDCEC approved)
  • 5:30 - 6:00: Dinner break
  • 6:00 - 7:30: Communication Bling! 2 CEUs

Do you work hard to keep a design or construction project on track, only to find yourself frequently caught up in problems caused by poor communication? Is talking through the situation only making things worse? Would you like to avoid future misunderstandings? We “BLING” up our designs and presentations, but how about honing our interpersonal skills for SUCCESS? Discover your own communication style, its strengths and weaknesses, as well as how to identify others' styles for more effective communication, and ultimately add to your bottom line. In this fun and lively interactive session, Maria will introduce a variety of communication styles to help you determine which is yours, and how to modify it to meet the needs of others. You’ll practice using real world examples. As an added bonus, everyone will take away an “emergency toolkit” of phrases to help in stressful situations!

Maria started her career in kitchens and baths in 1992, finally becoming a Certified Master Kitchen and Bath Designer in August of 2015. In 2016 she also became a Certified Living in Place Professional. She is the Manager of Tewksbury Kitchens & Baths, a division of Huston Lumber & Supply Co. and has a BA from Trenton State College.

Maria has been an active NKBA volunteer in her Northern NJ Chapter as well as on the national level, most recently serving as the 2015 NKBA National President. She loves volunteerism, learning, great design, still holds a K-12 teaching certificate in the state of NJ and is a musician as well as a wife and mother of 3 in her spare time.
