Excellence in Education Award
As part of accreditation standards, every NKBA-accredited college, university, or technical institute submits two student design projects following the requirements of the current year's NKBA Student Design Competition, sponsored by Sub Zero/Wolf Company® and Waypoint Living Spaces™. In even years, bath design projects are collected, and during odd years, kitchen work design projects are collected. Student work samples included a floor plan, elevation, construction plan, and mechanical plan. The work samples were assessed on their compliance with the NKBA Planning Guidelines, NKBA Graphic and Presentation Standards and how well the solution meets the clients’ needs.
The Excellence in Education Awards are given to the top entries that were submitted timely and met the NKBA's challenging goal of earning an average score of at least 93 out of a possible 100 on its two student designs. The winning schools are announced at the Educators Forum held during the NKBA's Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS®).
